The hardest part of this recipe is extracting the aloe vera gel from the spear. There are several methods. One of the easiest is to begin by cutting off the thorns of the spear with scissors. As the thorns are cut off that part of the spear opens. Once all the thorns are off use a sharp knife to slide under that side of the spear and cut, opening length wise. Open the spear completely and carefully scoop out the gel, being sure to only scoop out clear gel from the center of the spear. The smell of aloe vera is described as potent by some, but the taste is mild.

Ingredients
3 cups of filtered water
1 large aloe vera leaf
Instructions
Cut open the spear per the instructions above
Scoop out the clear aloe vera gel
Add two table spoons to the water in a blender
Blend for 2-3 minutes until the water is uniform and consistent
